VIVEK KUMAVAT

Vivek Kumavat’s primary muse is the majestic Indian bull. Kumavat sees bulls as a symbol of strength, and is especially inspired by their presence in Hindu mythology. His acrylic on canvas works see the bulls magnificently ornamented with a patchwork, inspired by the style of Indian miniatures.... Kumavat’s paintings are crafted in a series of layers, starting with a minimal, monochrome backdrop, often in red, orange or ochre. In the foreground, he composes the folk-like, artistically contoured form of the bull, which then serves as a canvas for a minutely intricate and wildly colourful depiction of scenes from Hindu mythology. Hindu gods and goddesses feature prominently and in vivid detail, offering a wealth of depth to Kumavat’s work that is especially captivating to the gaze. Kumavat has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in India, as well as in Singapore and the UK.
