Meenal Singh

Meenal Singh’s artistic practice is rooted in her fascination with materiality. As a Painter, the Bengaluru-based artist works primarily with oil on canvas, while her work as a sculptor is based on an experimentation with stone and the varying properties of metal. Singh, who holds degrees from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi and A&M University in Texas, taps into her experience as an architect to investigate the chemical nature of the materials she works with, thereby allowing them to lead the process of creative expression. Singh formalised her exploration of metallurgy with a degree in Metal Sculpture from the Corcoran Museum of Art in Washington D.C. Since then, her work has been shown at several group and solo exhibitions in Bengaluru. She was also a co-illustrator for the award-winning children’s book “I Need to Pee,” written by Neha Singh and published by Puffin. In addition to fine art, Singh continues to practise architecture between Bengaluru and Washington, DC.
