Heena Pari

Mumbai-born Heena Pari is an artist, designer and homemaker whose work is an exploration of the domestic landscape and its relation to her identity as a woman. Pari considers the home to be a laboratory for creativity, where the constant juggle between career and family inspires her to think more deeply about gender roles and conditioning in a patriarchal society. While Pari seeks to question the status quo, she is also eager to celebrate the multiplicity of domestic life. Through printmaking, drawing and painting, she explores the graphic possibilities of various artistic forms. Her visual language of patterns and lines are an analogy of the themes she deals with in her work—namely, the liberation that can be found even within the most rigid structures. In addition to being aesthetic expressions of her identity, the works are utilitarian objects--a deft combination of artistry and functionality that speaks of Pari’s own plurality.
